Forum on Upcoming Ballot Initiatives

Ballot Initiatives on the November ballot are sometimes a surprise to the voters. To help inform everyone, the League of Women Voters, the Bozeman Business and Professional Women, and Bozeman Public Library co-sponsored a bi-partisan forum to discuss the upcoming initiatives. The forum was held in the Community Meeting Room of the Bozeman Public Library at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018.

The forum covered each ballot initiative including LR-128, which continues a six-mill property tax to fund the Montana State University system for 10 years; LR-129 which bans all but certain individuals from collecting another individual’s ballot;  I-185 which extends Medicaid expansion, and increases tobacco taxes to fund health programs and lastly I-186, which restricts new hard rock mine permits, including water quality requirements for restoration plans. Representatives from both sides of each initiative presented their issue and took questions.

The first segment of our recording includes the discussions of LR-129 and LR-128. The second segment includes I-185 and I-186.
