As of Wednesday, June 10, 2020, Montana reports 561 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with eight new cases reported in the last day: six in Gallatin County and two in Big Horn County. Statewide, 74 people have been hospitalized and seven people are currently being treated in the hospital for COVID-19. There have been 174 cases so far in Gallatin County.
While the nation’s cases overall have flattened, they are not yet declining. The United States has surpassed two million cases of COVID-19, and daily reports are increasing in 21 states, amid efforts to reopen. Every day, 10,000 to 20,000 new cases of the coronavirus are reported in states and U.S. territories. In the past week, eight states have reported at least a 50 percent increase in COVID-19 cases from the previous week. Arizona reports that since May 15, the number of COVID-19 patients on ventilators has quadrupled. On Monday, the World Health Organization said that on nine of the past 10 days, more than 100,000 new cases had been reported globally. These figures suggest the virus’s transmission is not slowing in the summer months.
