As of Thursday, June 18, 2020, Montana reports 655 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with twenty-five new cases reported in the last day, matching the second largest daily total reported in Montana. Thursday’s twenty-five cases span the state: four cases each in Gallatin, Big Horn, and Flathead Counties, three in Yellowstone County, two each in Carbon, Fergus, Missoula, and Richland Counties, and one new case in each of Lake and Valley Counties. Statewide, 81 people have been hospitalized, and eight people are currently being treated in the hospital for COVID-19. Gallatin County has had the largest number of confirmed cases in any of the counties in the state of Montana, with 195 cases so far. Big Horn County reported four new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday afternoon, all children under the age of 10, and on Wednesday, Big Horn County reported another death due to COVID-19, a woman in her 30s. That brings Montana’s coronavirus death toll to 20. Nationwide, more than 120,000 Americans have died.
As Montana sees a statewide spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, Gov. Steve Bullock said it is a reminder that people still need to be taking steps to limit the spread of the disease. Montana has reported at least 94 new cases over the last week. Bullock said many of those cases have been in clusters, from a single household or workplace. That includes two workplaces in Custer County, which has reported its first 19 cases in the last seven days.
