In celebration of Welcoming Week, a national movement to recognize contributions by refugees and immigrants to our communities, Gallatin Refugee Connections (GRC) organized a presentation on the Montana refugee experience. The Director of the International Rescue Committee in Missoula, Jen Barile, gave an overview of the IRC role and introduced two refugees recently resettled to Missoula from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Iraq. They told their stories about starting a new life in Montana. Unfortunately, Mayor Wilmot Collins of Helena, a refugee originally from Liberia, was unable to attend.
Recorded at Wild Joe’s Coffee Spot on September 20, 2018.
