We’re holding a five-day fundraiser from Mon., Mar. 3 through Fri., Mar. 7! We would greatly welcome your support – you can visit our support page to make an online donation, or find instructions for sending in or dropping off a donation. There’s an option to become a sustaining member of KGVM by setting up a monthly donation – even $5 or $10 a month goes a long way toward keeping us going!

Thanks for supporting your community radio station, KGVM!

KGVM has been busily attending and recording forums for candidates and ballot initiatives that will appear on the general election ballot on Nov. 5, 2024. You can find the recordings at Election 2024. Note that KGVM does not endorse or oppose any candidate or ballot issue; we strive to provide information to help voters make an informed decision.

Ecotones coverage of Held vs. MT

Joy LaClaire has been recording the daily proceedings of the Montana Supreme Court trial in the case of Held vs. the State of Montana, a case brought against the state by sixteen young residents of Montana. They argue that the state’s support of the fossil fuel industry has played a decisive role in exacerbating the effects of climate change and its impact on the plaintiffs’ lives, thus denying their right to a “clean and healthful environment” as required by the Constitution of Montana. Each day, Joy produces a digest of highlights from the day’s proceedings in the trial for her Ecotones program. You can hear the digests daily on KGVM, or you can listen to the programs any time under Ecotones.

Raise the Roof Fundraiser!

We’re throwing a shindig at the Filling Station on Fri., Mar. 24, to help cover the cost of replacing some equipment that was damaged when our roof leaked and to make some repairs to our transmitter.

It’s going to be a big night at the Filler! Doors open at 7:00, and we’ll kick things off with the Bone Dry Comedy Hour at 7:30. Once your funny bone has been tickled, we’ll roll into an evening of great local music! The groups on the bill are the Art and Funk Collective, the Ocean Lee Band, the Jacob Rountree Trio, and the Benn & Abel Band!

Gracious local merchants have donated raffle items, so you can win some cool stuff, and we’ll have KGVM merch on hand. Come down to the Filler for a great evening of entertainment and us keep the community in community radio here in the Gallatin Valley!

Advance tickets are $15 each at EventBrite, and any remaining will be available for $20 each at the door.

This is a 21 and up event.

Ticket giveaway

The crew at Bourbon have donated three pairs of tickets for the STiLGONE and MINT! show on Fri., Jan 20, to KGVM to give to listeners. If you’d like to attend the show at Bourbon on us, send an email to bob.wall@kgvm.org or call and leave a message at 406-624-6534 and let us know your contact info and answer one of these questions:
– What is the trademark neckware of the members of STiLGONE?
– What can you expect the members of MINT! to do before the night is over?
– Name one of the members of either MINT! or STiLGONE.
We’ll pick three respondents and get you and a companion on the guest list for the show. We’ll see you at Bourbon on Jan. 20.

When it snows, it pours!

With the cold weather, ice buildup, plenty of snow, and sudden thawing, the roof at the Labor Temple developed a leak. Which lead us to discover a fundamental truth – in the battle between water-logged ceiling tiles and electronic equipment, the ceiling tiles win. We lost some gear this week in the studio – a couple of mixers and some miscellaneous equipment. Luckily the main board and PC were unscathed. But we are going to be replacing some things, and we would greatly appreciate any assistance you might be able to provide. You can use the support link to donate online or find instructions for mailing in a donation or dropping it off.

Also, keep your eyes open for a fundraiser event coming up soon – there will be music!

Thanks for your help and attention, and thanks in advance for any support you can provide.

Underwrite KGVM’s programming!

KGVM's 4th Birthday Party!

It’s time for Gallatin Valley’s annual non-profit fundraiser, Give Big! From 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 5 through 6:00 PM on Friday, May 6, you can visit our Give Big fundraising page to donate to KGVM. We will also have an open house on Friday afternoon, if you would like to stop by our studios and check things out! We are in the basement of the Gallatin Labor Temple at 422 E. Mendenhall in Bozeman – if you come in the back (south) door and go down the stairs, we are right at the bottom. We have just restocked our supply of T-shirts, if you’d like to purchase some KGVM apparel. We greatly appreciate your help in keeping the community in community radio here at KGVM!

High School Basketball Divisionals

The basketball tournament for the Eastern AA division is coming up in Belgrade on Mar. 3-5, and we will be broadcasting all of the Bozeman Hawks, Gallatin Raptors, and Belgrade Panthers boys’ and girls’ games! Ian will be calling the games. The schedule for the first round, on Thursday, March 3, is as follows:

  • 9:30 Bozeman Boys VS Belgrade
  • 12:30 Gallatin Girls VS West
  • 2:00 Bozeman Girls VS CMR
  • 3:30 Gallatin Boys VS West
  • 8:00 Belgrade Girls VS Skyview

If you can’t make it to the gym in Belgrade to watch the games, listen to them on 95.9 FM or online at kgvm.org!

Partners in Crime!

We at KGVM would like to thank the Gallatin Underground and Lokken Productions for their tireless work supporting our local music scene! We’re all working together to get the word out about local musicians and to make their music available to our listeners and viewers! Your support of these fine organizations would be much appreciated – the Gallatin Underground is currently fundraising to support their third season of operations. You can throw them some support and there are opportunities galore to attend a Lokken Productions concert! They both have great YouTube Channels (GU and LP) and if you SUBSCRIBE it’s easy to keep up with new postings.

High School Basketball

KGVM is proud to broadcast high school basketball games by the Bozeman Hawks and the Gallatin Raptors boys’ and girls’ varsity teams this winter. Ian Laird is calling the games – we are providing equal coverage to both high schools and the boys’ and girls’ teams, which necessitates choosing which games to broadcast each week. If you can’t make it to the gym to watch a game, you can listen right here on 95.9 FM or online at kgvm.org!
