Bob was joined in the KGVM studios by Adrian Jay and his fiance and co-producer Morgan Mae to talk about the recording and production of his newly released album, On a Tightrope, and to listen to some cuts off the album.

Bob went to the practice space and studio of Bozeman punk band Göners ÜK to talk about their recent tour and their new EP Burn Your Bones.

For a special Thursday night performance to kick off the Sonic Hash show, Leah Turner joined us in the KGVM studio to play a number of songs she has written. She was joined by Neil Filo Beddow and Dean Wakerlin – the trio are part of the local music collective Under the Umbrella that perform together in the area.

We kick off this episode with Sam and Lilly Platts in the KGVM studios, playing some Western swing music. Then Steven Stephen is in the studio to debut her video for the song Creature, which is set to debut on Oct. 29.

After a last minute schedule change, Dane Andrew Thompson joined us In the Music Box to play some songs and talk music and songwriting.

In another simulcast, we were In the Music Box with Fountain Street Theater to talk music and listen to some bluegrass.

In a joint venture with Lokken Productions, we did a simulcast of In the Music Box and the Local Musicians’ Spotlight featuring Taylor Burlage on vocals and guitar and Hans Swenson on fiddle — in the Music Box. They performed some of Taylor’s originals and some songs from the band Sweet Sage that they play in together.

In another collaboration with In the Music Box, we recorded an interview and performance by Bozeman composer and pianist Abbey Wenger in the Leigh Lounge on the MSU Campus. Abbey talked about her work in film and video production and how that fits in with her new work in writing and performing music for film. She played several of her pieces on the grand piano in the Leigh Lounge.

It was time for another field trip for the Spotlight – we recorded this episode at Basecamp Studios, where Storyhill has been performing John Hermanson’s new album Isaiah and the band’s new holiday album Bethlehem via live stream. Chris and John talked about their 30th anniversary tour last year and their new holiday album, and they played several tracks from Bethlehem.

We’re getting things rolling again in the KGVM studios, and tonight Bob was joined by Bozeman musician Maggie Hickman, who brought her guitar to the studio to sing us some songs on a cool Bozeman evening.

In a joint venture with Lokken Productions and the Gallatin Underground, we did an episode of In the Music Box and the Local Musicians’ Spotlight featuring Addison Lea Thompson in their new studio space. Addison played some songs off his previous albums and previewed some new tunes off his upcoming album.

Bozeman musician Harley Larson joined Bob in the KGVM studios for a discussion of his musical career, the various musical endeavors he has going, and songwriting. He performed several of his original compositions.

Bob was joined in the KGVM studios by local singer-songwriter Brice Ash – Brice talked about his time living and playing in Nashville, then relocating to Bozeman. They also discussed songwriting before and during the pandemic, and Brice played several of his songs.

For this episode, Bob hosted Livingston-area singer-songwriter Quiet Local in the studio. He talked about his career and songwriter, interspersed with some live performances.

This week, Bob hosted local singer-songwriter Jacob Rountree for a discussion of being a musician and songwriter during these turbulent times, and he played several of his songs.

This week, we were glad to have Jim Averitt in the KGVM studios. He brought a stack of CDs from his career as a singer-songwriter, and we explored some of the catalog, with Jim giving us some details about where the songs came from and came to be recorded. The show wrapped up with a new, not-yet-released song from an upcoming Jim Averitt & Chelsea Hunt album.

After a brief resurgence of the Local Musicians’ Spotlight featuring Desperate Electric, we were on pause for a few more weeks, but we are trying to get the wheels back on this thing, and this week Neil Filo Beddow returned to the KGVM studios with some new songs and some thoughts about the current situation. Neil played some of his folk tunes, and we talked about the lockdown and music and guitars and even waxed philosophical (just a bit).

For the first episode after a COVID-19 induced pause, we welcomed Desperate Electric into the KGVM studios. The duo of Kayti Korte and Ben Morris, who were formerly in the Bozeman band DASH, helped us get back up and running again with a nice set of soul and R&B infused rock music live in the studio, and we talked about how they have been weathering the lockdown.

Jori (aka Eneferens) joined us in the studio to play some of his softer material and to talk about his upcoming tour and a new album he’s working on.

We made a road trip over the hill to the Paradise Valley to chat with Sean Devine about his new album, which is just getting wrapped up, and to hear some songs that will be on it.
