This fall, a coalition of the Bozeman Business and Professional Women, League of Women Voters – Bozeman, Association of University Woman – Bozeman, the Belgrade community library, and the Bozeman Public Library sponsored a series of candidate forums via video teleconferencing.
The fourth and final forum, held on Oct. 13, featured proponents and opponents for each of the initiatives and amendments appearing on Montana ballots this November: I-190 and CI-119, legalizing recreational marijuana and setting the legal age to purchase at 21 (Pepper Peterson, proponent and Steve Zabawa, opponent), LR-130, limiting the ability of local jurisdictions to place regulations on firearms, including restrictions on concealed carry (Rep. Steve Gunderson, proponent and Sen. Dick Barrett, opponent), and C-46 and C-47, which remove language from the constitution that was found to be unconstitutional related to statutes, referendums, and amendment distribution requirements (Rep. Steve Gunderson, proponent and Rep. Mofie Funk, opponent). Mellisa Herron moderated the forum.
