Ep. 415

As of Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Montana reports 110,107 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 167 new cases reported in the last day: 37 in Gallatin County, 36 in Cascade County, 29 in Yellowstone County, 11 in Lewis & Clark County, and more new cases in 18 more Montana counties. The number of active coronavirus cases in Montana is 1,028. Currently, 69 people are being treated in Montana hospitals for COVID-19. The most active cases are in Cascade, Yellowstone, Gallatin, and Flathead Counties. 1,593 people have died in Montana of COVID-19. Nationwide, more than 582,000 Americans have died of COVID-19. There have been 32,800,000 cases of coronavirus in the US, and counting.

The Food and Drug Administration has lowered the age that people can receive Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine in the United States to 12 — a move that is expected to make millions of more shots available. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was authorized for use in people ages 16 and older in December. The FDA has now amended the authorization to include children ages 12 to 15.

For more than thirty years, Montana police have been trying to identify the skeletal remains of a woman that were found by a bear hunter in Missoula County. Now, police say they have identified them as belonging to Janet Lee Lucas, a missing mother from Washington. Missoula County Sheriff’s Detective Marta Timmons says that Lucas “could be a victim of Wayne Nance, because she’s found in an area where Wayne Nance used to hang out.” Nance, known as “Missoula Mauler,” was a suspected serial killer in Missoula during the 1970s and 1980s.
